PRIVACY.
What this website collects, why, and how to have it deleted. In plain words.
The short version
- If you join the waitlist, we keep your email to send you one email when the app opens. Nothing else.
- We don't sell or share your data, and we don't use advertising trackers or cookies.
- Email smsprotectio@gmail.com any time to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
Who we are
This website is run by SMS PROTECT LIMITED (“CyberMunity”, “we”, “us”), based in Lagos, Nigeria. We are the data controller for the personal data collected through this website. For anything about your data, write to smsprotectio@gmail.com.
This policy covers this website only. The SMS Protect and CyberMunity apps handle data differently and are covered by their own privacy policies, shown in each app and on its store listing.
What we collect, and why
When you join the waitlist
- Your email address, so we can tell you when the CyberMunity App opens.
- Your first name and how you heard about us, only if you choose to answer those two optional questions after signing up. We use them to address you properly and to learn which channels reach people.
- How you found us: which form you used, the page you signed up on, the first page you visited, the website that sent you (if any), and campaign tags in the link you clicked (such as
utm_source). This tells us which of our posts and partners bring people in. - Your country, worked out from your IP address when you sign up. We store the country only, not your IP address or city.
Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. The “how you found us” and country details are processed under our legitimate interest in understanding where our audience comes from; they are kept with your signup and deleted with it.
When you use the contact form
Your name, email and message, so we can reply. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us, and taking steps you ask for before any agreement with us.
When you browse the site
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, which pages are visited, which websites send visitors, and visitors' country, device and browser type. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you, and does not follow you across other websites. We see totals, not individuals. Our hosting provider also keeps short-lived technical logs (including IP addresses) to run the site and protect it from abuse.
What we store in your browser
We don't set cookies. We keep three small notes in your browser's local storage:
cm_first_touch: the first page you landed on and the site that sent you, sent along only if you join the waitlist.cm_waitlist_joined: that you've already joined, so we don't ask you again.cm_waitlist_dismissed: that you closed the waitlist pop-up, so it stays away for two weeks.
They never leave your device unless you sign up. You can clear them any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.
What we will never do
- Sell, rent or trade your data.
- Add you to other mailing lists, or send you marketing you didn't ask for.
- Use your data for advertising or to profile you.
Who handles your data for us
We use a small number of service providers who process data only on our instructions:
- Vercel Inc. (United States): hosts this website and provides the analytics.
- Neon (database servers in the United States): stores waitlist signups.
- Formspree (United States): delivers contact-form messages and new-signup alerts to our inbox.
Because these providers are in the United States, your data is transferred outside Nigeria. We rely on safeguards recognised under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, such as the providers' data processing agreements and standard contractual clauses, and only send them what they need.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist: until we've sent the launch email, and no longer than 12 months after that. Then it's deleted.
- Contact messages: up to 2 years after our last exchange, then deleted.
- Analytics: kept only as anonymous totals.
If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will.
How we protect it
Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and is stored with providers that encrypt data at rest. Only the people on our team who need it can see it, and we collect as little as we can in the first place.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (and the GDPR, if you are in the UK or EU) you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your data;
- stop or limit how we use it, or object to it being used;
- send your data to you or another service in a common format;
- withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn't affect what we did before you withdrew it.
Email smsprotectio@gmail.com from the address you signed up with. We'll reply within 30 days, and it's free. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or, in the UK or EU, to your local data protection authority.
Children
This website isn't aimed at children. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before joining the waitlist. If we learn we've collected a child's data without that permission, we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant and affects waitlist data we already hold, we'll tell you by email first.
